A circular plate with two cuts is considered. The combination of the R-function and Rayleigh–Ritz methods is used to determine the linear vibrations modes. The vibrations of a plate under a geometrically nonlinear deformation are expanded in the obtained eigenmodes. Using the Bubnov–Galerkin procedure, a system with three degrees of freedom is derived and studied by the multiple scales method.

The paper considers free vibrations of thin isotropic conical shells with variable thickness basing on the method of spline-approximation of unknown functions. Calculations were carried out for different types of boundary conditions. The influence of a variable thickness of shells on free vibrations is studied. Free vibrations of shells with constant and variable thicknesses are compared.
