For crystals of cubic symmetry, the influence of the magnetoelastic interaction on the moduli of elasticity and the propagation speed of magnetoelastic waves is investigated. The quantitative estimation of this influence for yttrium iron garnet is given, and a method for the experimental determination of the piezomagnetic constant is specified.
